INFORMATION ABOUT LIQUOR TO THE CONSUMER
1. Dry Days
On the following days in Bihar all the liquor-vending outlets(Retails, Bars, Club
etc) have to be kept compulsorily closed:-
Republic Day 26 Junaury
Independence Day 15 August
Gandhi Jayanthi 2 October
Mahavir Jayanti
Ramnavmi
Budh Jayanti
Durga puja(Dashmi)
Id-ul-fitar
Muharram
Holi
On the 1st of every English Calender Month the liquor-vending units have to be kept
closed as per administrative instruction of Government.
In all areas of election the liquor vendign licensed have to be kept closed on the
day of polling and previous day. During counting the liqour licenses have to closed
as per the notification of local authority.
The above dates and days the 'Dry Days' in enforcing the Abkari Act in Bihar.
2. a) Do's
A). Always buy liquor from an authorized liquor shop.
B). The Consumers buying liquor from an authorized liquor shop must positively ensure
the
presence of Holographic Security Label in the bottle caps. C). Always check the
seal of the bottle before purchasing.
D). While purchasing liquor from the shop always insist on cash-memo(bill)
E). Do remember to obtain cash balance if any due before leaving the counter.
b). Don'ts:-
A). Do not pay more than the prescribed price or MRP printed on the bottle or duly
exhibited on the Notice Board.
B). In Bihar the permissible quantity of liquor that can be possessed and carried
is 3 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, 7,8 litres of Beer , 7,8 litres of Wine.
C). Do not buy liquor from illegal shops or sources.
D). If you are under 18 years, you are stricly prohibited from purchasing liquor.
E). Liquor markded
